Male Voice Choir (ECMVC), based in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire
in the UK.
The
Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice Choir is now
in its 90 th Year and is proud to be able
to continue in the long standing tradition
that is Male Voice Choir singing. During
the last 90 years the choir has performed
at thousands of concerts and numerous
competitions and festivals with a huge
amount of success, as well as appearing
on both television and radio with equal
acclaim. The Eastwood Collieries’ Male
Voice Choir is well known for the quality
of its sound, tone and singing as well
as its technical ability with an enviable
reputation gained through determination,
dedication, hard work and attention to
detail.
The
choirs repertoire is extremely varied and includes
traditional male voice choir standards and old favourites,
music from the shows, operas, and more well known
popular pieces made famous by other artists such
as Rod Stewart, Bette Midler, Charlotte Church, Elvis
Presley and Westlife to name just a few and many
more. The choir works very hard to keep its repertoire
fresh and appealing to varied audience genres, being
no strangers to hard work and discipline the choir
is well versed in performing pieces in other languages
including German, Welsh, Latin, African and Spanish
just to name a few.
Now
one of only a few original colliery male voice choirs
surviving in the country this choir continues to
buck the trend in male voice choirs and attracts
new members on a regular basis even where other male
voiced choirs are declining in numbers we continue
to thrive and grow. Having a broad range of members
the choir is able to boast its youngest member is
aged just 15 and its oldest member aged 95. With
healthy membership numbers and an appealing repertoire
we as a choir are well established to continue providing
musical entertainment to audiences nationwide.
The
choir performs numerous concerts throughout
the year for many groups, charities and organisations
and is no stranger to the high profile events;
the choir is a regular performer at the Royal Albert
Hall in London, the Albert Hall in Nottingham,
De Montfort Hall in Leicester and many others.
Since
2005 this illustrious choir have raised
the combined figure of almost £900,000.00 for many
worth while charities, groups and organisations
through the hard work and dedication of its members
giving of their time and their voices.
The
Eastwood Collieries' Male Voice Choir
is now entering a new era of development and there is
a real need to generate revenue beyond the staple provision
of membership income, so with this
in mind the choir is actively seeking 'Sponsorship' to
enable this dynamic and forward-thinking choir to carry
on into the future raising monies for
worthy charities and organisations. Shouldn’t

WHO WE ARE.
Eastwood Collieries Male Voice
Choir is based in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire here
in the United Kingdom. The Choir practices every
Tuesday evening at the St. Mary's Church, Church
Street, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire starting at 7pm.
Formed in the 1920's the choir
originally drew it's members from the local mining
community. The subsequent demise of the local coal
industry means that the current membership of over
65 members are now drawn from all walks of life and
many trades and professions, with only a handful
of retired miners remaining within the ranks of the
choir.
In the Choirs 90 year history it
has appeared at numerous Concert and Music Festival
Competitions with a considerable amount of success,
being well known for its high quality singing and
technical ability and has also appeared on both television
and radio with equal acclaim.
Other prestigious highlights for
the Choir include performances at the Royal Albert
Hall in London, singing with Her Majesty's Band of
the Blue's and Royals at De Montford Hall in Leicester
and various trips away around the country including
many trips to Wales singing with Welsh Male Voice
Choirs in combined concerts.
