Hello and a very warm welcome to this the 'Official'
web site for the Eastwood Collieries' Male Voice Choir
(ECMVC), based in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire in the UK.
As we begin 2008 we hope to build on our vibrant past
with a view to making this year as successfully
as that of our previous year. Since 2005
this choir has helped raise the combined
figure of nearly £600,000
for many local and national charities/groups
and organisations. This dynamic, forward-thinking
Male Voice Choir is
now in its 88th Year and is proud to be able
to boast that we are one of the oldest surviving
original Colliery Male Voice Choirs in the
country, proud of our heritage and sure of
our future prospects.
This year the Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice
Choir is hosting a major event with the world renowned
Championship Award - winning Grimethorpe Colliery Band,
supported by a Massed Male Voice Choir of 9 of the East
Midlands finest Male Voice Choirs at the Royal Concert
Hall in Nottingham on Saturday 1st November 2008. This
concert will help support the British Heart Foundation.
The Eastwood Collieries' Male Voice Choir is now entering
a new era of development and there is a real need to
generate revenue beyond the staple provision of membership
income, with this in mind the choir is actively seeking
'Sponsorship' to enable this dynamic and forward-thinking
choir to carry on into the future raising monies for
worthy charities and organisations. For further details

WHO WE ARE.
Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir is based
in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire here in the United Kingdom. The Choir
practices every Tuesday evening at the St. Mary's Church, Church
Street, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire starting at 7 pm.
Formed in the 1920's the choir
originally drew it's members from the local mining community.
The subsequent demise of the local coal industry means that the current
membership of over 50 members are now drawn from all walks of life
and many trades and professions, with only a handful of retired miners
remaining within the ranks of the choir.
In the Choirs 87 year history it
has appeared at numerous Concert and Music Festival
Competitions with a considerable amount of success,
being well known for its high quality singing and
technical ability and has also appeared on both television
and radio with equal acclaim.
Other prestigious highlights for the Choir include performances
at the Royal Albert Hall in London, singing with Her Majesty's Band
of the Blue's and Royals at De Montford Hall in Leicester and various
trips away around the country including many trips to Wales singing
with Welsh Male Voice Choirs in combined concerts.
